Summer Internship Stories of 2020-22 Batch
Barsha Singh – Aditya Birla Group (Hindalco)
I had my first corporate experience in ABG, as I did my summer internship at Hindalco, Aditya Birla Group. I was in the procurement department, which can be quite daunting for somebody who has no relevant experience in the field. But, employees in Hindalco were friendly, I approached multiple people and they were always willing to help.
In terms of the project, we had to create a Procurement Effectiveness Model to help Hindalco effectively transform its procurement function. I learnt a lot by understanding all the activities involved in the overall procurement process while working on it. And one thing this internship taught me is that there is always room for growth. Simply have a strong desire to succeed and maintain a steep learning curve.
Prinsu Modi – Marriott International
A summer internship is always a prerequisite for management students, and I was fortunate enough to be offered an internship with Marriott international, one of the largest hospitality company. I am grateful to have worked for 3 months as a finance intern at Marriott international.
During my internship, I came to know about the difficulties being faced by the company during the pandemic and strategies adopted by them to overcome the problems and maintain its position against its competitors. I was exposed to different departments of the hotel and interacted with the co-workers and came to know how important role a Finance department plays in a hotel industry.
Ashish Srivastav – Cadila Pharmaceuticals Limited
I grew my knowledge at Cadila Pharmaceuticals Limited during my 3 months internship as an HR Intern, and I am delighted to share this experience.
During this period of growth, I have had the opportunity to learn from some of the best minds in the industry, who have mentored me and guided me to develop myself and my skills, which are crucial to my career. Working on learning and development projects to improve the quality output from the workforce, I have learned a lot of things which can be applied at a personal level to achieve quality success. I am positive that I will be able to leverage the knowledge I have gained in these past few months, throughout my career.
Mayank Gera – Moody’s
I am privileged to be working as an HR intern in Moody’s India. The 2 month internship has, so far, been a rich learning experience.
My project involves working under HR Business Partners of Asia-Pacific region. I have worked with the HR-BPs in India, Singapore and Hong Kong. This stint has given me a global exposure, and has opened my eyes to the work culture in all these countries.
My work has allowed me to study and apply core HR principles including compensation and benefits, talent acquisition, and business engagement. Moreover, I have engaged with business leaders from across the globe, which has been a learning experience like no other.
Rijish Deb – Welspun India
An experience for which I will be grateful for the rest of my life. I am grateful for the opportunity to work as a Marketing Intern at Welspun India for two months. A period of tremendous learning and growth working on a Global Expansion Project to help Welspun India reach newer heights as the “Global Leaders of Home Textiles,” I’ve had the opportunity to learn from some of the most wonderful mentors, managers, and teammates which I’ll be able to draw on in the future stages of my professional career. I’m incredibly happy to have gained such valuable experience!
Gudapati Jitendra Pawan – Syngenta India Ltd
I undertook an eight week internship at Syngenta India Ltd. as a marketing and distribution management trainee.
I was treated as a regular employee, and was reporting directly to the project lead of India at Syngenta seed care, which helped me in learning and understanding organisational tools and culture, I was asked to report at the end of every week with questions and an overview of what I had learned.
Each week I had to take care of different divisions in the company and the highlight of my work was to train new distribution partners at the company and that’s where my academic knowledge helped me and doing so also improved my network.
Monalisa Borah – GKB Opticals
I consider myself to be fortunate enough to get an opportunity to work with GKB Opticals as a Management Trainee for two months.
During the 2 months, I worked with various departments of the company. It was very fascinating to learn how the Supply Chain of the company works, Inventory is managed, how planning and forecasting of sales are done, products are procured, and how the Marketing strategies and campaigns are implemented.
Apart from the learnings, it was indeed a great experience to work in such an amazing work culture and environment. I am definitely going to cherish these 2 months with GKB Opticals.
Rakshe Himanshu Nandkumar – Jio Creative Labs
My time as an intern at Jio Creative Labs was exciting, challenging, and full of new experiences.
All of my Jio Creative Labs mentors were important in my success. My internship helped me relate all the theoretical concepts taught in a b-school, as a practical experience. It is was a fulfilling experience, with exposure to innumerable opportunities.
The tasks and learning possibilities offered to me throughout this time have helped me gradually improve as a marketer!
Rishabh Shukla – ITC Limited
I have commenced my Summer Internship at ITC Limited. I was working in the Trade Marketing and Distribution division in the field of Marketing. The initial few days were spent in understanding the operations of ITC. As it is mostly a field role, where we were supposed to visit distributor point and warehouse, continuing with different outlets visit in the market.
I gained knowledge on how to deal with potential customers for the company, the psychological response towards Savlon’s product portfolio.
Debargha Dey – Tata Steel
It was an enriching experience to do an internship in a MNC like Tata Steel. Internship was based on a new product launch and hence was more on conducting primary and secondary research. It was a challenging and at the same time interesting task. All throughout the process, I received consistent guidance and help from my project guide, Madhuraksha Mam. To sum it up it was a really good experience.
Radhika Bhattacharyya – Godrej Consumer Products Limited
For my summer internship with Godrej, I was working on creating the Go to Market strategy of a recently launched product in the Eastern zone- in close liaison with the brand head of HIT. My mentor always encouraged me to think out of the box and pushed my boundaries. It was an enriching experience, that I’ll cherish for the days to come.
Shikhar Prasad – Reserve Bank of India (RBI)
My internship stint at Reserve Bank of India, Kolkata was nothing short of an amazing. The Summer Placement Scheme is an impeccably crafted leadership program filled with challenging assignment, a jovial atmosphere welcoming co-worker, constant and caring attention from the industry veterans, incredible HR support, in essence an ideal workplace that made me feel like a long-time member of the organization. RBI provided me with a right atmosphere for personal development and I will carry this remarkable experience throughout my life. The daily brainstorming session with my mentor was particularly insightful as they helped me discover new approaches to problem solving.
Bhaskar Saha – Oppo
The opportunity to intern at OPPO has been a fabulous learning experience. At OPPO, I have had the privilege of interacting with some of the Team Leads and Promoters. The internship provided me with opportunities for conducting research on the smartphone market and then using those insights as input, to fulfil the goals of the brand.
Mayur Aggarwal – Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) India
There’s no simple way I could capture the learning experience of my summer internship at Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), one of the world’s largest real estate management companies.
Eight weeks, four projects helped me gain real-world insights into different kinds of real estate properties. I came across a set of business problems and was guided and mentored by the seniors on how to overcome them. The projects and assignments allowed me to test out all the skills that we developed in college and see how they work in the real world.
Siddharth Kaushik – Aditya Birla Group
I had my first corporate experience in ABG, as I did my summer internship in Aditya Birla Mahan project. I was in HR department; I chose this because it matches my previous work experience. Employees in Aditya Birla Mahan project were friendly, I approached multiple people and they always gave their time. I really had a great learning experience.
It was a proper internship in start, was provided with nice clean apartments with food facilities, but later due to the Pandemic keeping our health in focus the company provided work from home which was as properly arranged as before. With constant touch with mentor, it was a really great time learning in my internship.
