FPM Course Structure
CREDIT REQUIREMENTS
360 HOURS | 36 CREDITS
The research scholar is expected to complete 360 hours of coursework (36 credits).
The scholar will undertake 18 credits of compulsory courses (which will be common across all specializations), and rest of 18 credits will be from the opted specialization area of research.
The coursework aims to give the student a basic understanding of the various fields of management, which will enable them to pursue independent study at the PhD level. The minimum number of credits that must be earned is listed below:

a. General Core Courses
These courses are aimed at providing basic knowledge and skills that are required by doctoral-level researchers. To fulfill this the following core courses are offered:
- a. Research Methods 1 (Quantitative)
- b. Research Methods 2 (Qualitative)
- c. Elective Courses
- d. Philosophy of Research
- e. Research Workshop
- f. Course of Independent Study (CIS)
b. Area Core Courses
The objective of these courses is to provide the scholars with in-depth knowledge in the broad area of his/her specialization. There will be two core courses in the domain of specialization.
c. Elective Courses
These elective courses are designed in such a way that they provide scholars with adequate exposure to their area of research. FPM scholars need to take electives from their domain as well as electives of other areas, in such a way that these electives help in the final thesis work.
Fees, Fee Waivers & Other Financial Support for Full Time FPM (Full Time)
Scholars will get a stipend of Rs. 35,000 per month till proposal acceptance and Rs. 40,000/- per month after proposal acceptance, up to submitting their thesis/completion within four years of admission. The stipend is conditional on the approval of the monthly progress report of the research scholar by the supervisor / Thesis Advisory Committee. FPM Scholars must be physically present on campus for their coursework and doctoral research to be eligible for stipends. The FPM Scholar will also contribute as a Teaching/Research Assistant at MDI Murshidabad. Over and above the monthly stipend, a contingency grant of Rs. 20,000 per year [equivalent to a maximum of Rs. 80,000 for a total of 4 years] will be provided to the scholars, to be utilized for stationary, books, accessing/downloading research papers/journals/industry reports, databases, publication or editing charges for research papers, thesis, and the like. Scholars can get up to Rs. 1,50,000/- (only once during FPM tenure) for conferences after completing the Comprehensive Exam.

Full-time FPM scholars will be provided accommodation (subject to availability).
Full-time FPM scholars have to pay food charges (as per actuals).
EFPM Scholars will not be provided any financial assistance.
Full fees are to be paid by EFPM/FPM scholars.
