MDI SOCIETY
The Management Development Institute was registered on May 17, 1972, under the Societies Registration Act of 1860 (Punjab Amendment Act, 1957), as applicable to the Union Territory of Delhi, with its registered office at 10th Floor, IFCI Tower, 61, Nehru Place, New Delhi (India) – 110019. Initially the institute was established to train executives and managers of development banks. On May 16, 1975, the Government of Haryana (India) allocated 36 acres of land, facilitating the establishment of the institute’s campus in Gurgaon. With this, the institute expanded its operations, which became the primary hub for its academic and training activities.
In October 2010, MDI Murshidabad was set up in West Bengal. While functioning as independent institutions, MDI Gurgaon and MDI Murshidabad are governed by the same Board of Governors. To facilitate this governance structure and the establishment of multiple campuses and schools with independent operations in future, necessary amendments were made and approved on February 19, 2022, to have the “Management Development Institute Society”, as the primary governing body.
