Shri R. Doraiswamy has taken charge as Managing Director of Life Insurance Corporation of India on 1st September, 2023.

Shri R. Doraiswamy is a Direct Recruit officer of 17th Batch with more than 37 years of rich and diverse experience in operations, Marketing, Technology and Academics.

Before taking charge as Managing Director, Shri R. Doraiswamy has held various positions like Executive Director (Information Technology/Software Development ) and Chief (Information Technology/Software Development ) at CO, Mumbai, Regional Manager (Marketing / Chief Life Insurance Advisor) and Regional Manager (Pension & Group Schemes) at Southern Zonal Office, Chennai, Sr. Divisional Manager(In-charge) Divisional Office, Kottayam, Marketing Manager of Divisional Office, Chennai DO-I, Thanjavur and Pune.

He was deputed to the National Insurance Academy as Research Associate during the period 1999 to 2004 and has worked on various projects on Micro Insurance, Insurance Law and Regulations, Product Development as well as content development for Post Graduate Programmes in Insurance Management / Chartered Financial Planning etc. He was instrumental in rolling out of eFEAP Next, Centralization of ULIP systems, automation of repetitive processes etc., as Chief (Information Technology/Software Development).

He is a Graduate in Mathematics from Madurai Kamaraj University, Fellow Member of Insurance Institute of India and a student member of Institute of Actuaries of India.

He is on the Board of LIC Care Homes as Chairman and Director on the Board of LIC (Lanka) Ltd and National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX). He is also a Member of Governing Board of National Insurance Academy and Management Development Institute Society. Gurgaon. He is a Trustee in LIC Golden Jubilee Foundation and LIC OF INDIA PROVIDENT FUND NO.1

He has interests in reading, gardening and a variety of sports.
