MDIM COGNOS is a monthly research seminar series that aims to aspire people to create a platform for exchanging research ideas. The series also aims to generate a momentum of industry-oriented research-based problems by identifying real-world problems and seeking and deciphering tentative solutions.

MDIM COGNOS, the Research Seminar Series has been initiated under the guidance and leadership of Prof.(Dr.) Atmanand, Director, MDI Murshidabad.

Under the fourth edition of MDIM COGNOS, MDI Murshidabad is glad to host Dr. Murali Kanakasabai. He will be speaking on ‘Environmental Finance ‘. He is the Senior Director-Carbon finance and Markets at Conservation International. His work focuses on leading climate finance initiatives that help address strategic priorities in conservation. He leads a new investment facility- Accelerate Nature-that develops high-quality nature-based offset credits for the carbon market. Through this, he helps structure large-scale carbon offtake transactions for nature-based carbon offsets. He also focuses on creating financial platforms for catalyzing finance into nature-based climate solutions.

Dr. Kanakasabai is the co-founder of the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX). It pioneered environmental derivatives and carbon markets globally. As Senior Vice President (Research & Product Innovation), he was part of the core management team that established the first carbon exchanges in six countries across four continents, including Europe, North America, and China. His contributions include some of the world’s first and benchmark derivative instruments for carbon, renewable energy, and climate indexes.
